The other morning I was going through my normal routine of getting ready for work when I noticed the wonderful sunrise and the light that is was casting on the trees. So, of course, I got my camera and went outside for a few moments. In the last image, I just LOVE the contrast of the sky and the sunlight. In the other shots, I went into the field across from my street and got down really low to the ground. What I love about the D90 is the live preview on it. I was able to switch from the view finder to seeing the shot in the LCD screen. I don’t use that option all that much, but it saved me from having to lay in the dirt to get those shots.

I know I said that I would be back in March, but I just had to post a really quick set of my little one.
Yesterday we went through some totes of clothes that she had and in there were a bunch of clothes that she was able to fit into. Well, the first outfit that she tried on was so adorable. (They are actually all adorable, but was only able to snap these) We went outside very quickly to snap some poses. I have to explain about the pioneer woman style hat though. A long time ago my Great Aunt Clara would wear this type of hat when she would work outside. I’m not really sure why, but she did. My mom bought a few of these and gave them to her granddaughters. My oldest still had hers because I put it in a chest as a keepsake. Anyway, while I was cleaning out that chest I found it and gave it to E. She loved that thing and wouldn’t take it off even for the pictures.
I did manage to get her to put the white hat on though. BTW…..these all were done in 5 shots….it was cold out there and spitting large snowflake, after that we went back in.

I just wanted to let you all know that I’m taking just a wee bit of a break from blogging. I don’t want you all to think I fell off the face of the earth. March is going to be a very very busy time for me, so never fear…portraits will be abounding.

God Bless you all and see you in March!

Spring shows what God can do with a drab and dirty world. ~Virgil A. Kraft
Spring has to be by far my most favorite season. I really could do without the snow, the cold temps, the staying inside for what seems like forever! lol
Spring to me reminds me of the new birth. Everything is new, clean, fresh. So, when “E” and I went for a small walk, you can imagine my joy at finding that my lilacs had buds on them. I do hope that the still cold temps don’t kill them. Lilacs are my favorite flowers.
The pictures of the red and white flower are just random and thought I would throw them in here too.

My niece celebrates her 17th Birthday today. I can’t believe how fast time flies. My nephew celebrated his 15th on Saturday. Here are some random shots from her party from last night.

This is my niece and she came over to hang out with my oldest. She is such a pretty girl. Since I hadn’t photographed her in a little while, I asked her just to stand outside so I can test using my external flash on the D90. I hadn’t done a true session outside with my new camera and being the perfectionist that I am, I want to make sure the skin tones look good, not too bright…etc. She indulged me.
“B” also took pictures of her while she was here. I did a couple of shots in the studio of her, but the ones that you are going to see are not synched to the camera. Bri had the cord attached to the D40x. In these, I used the 50mm, ISO 800, 1.4, 1/250

In these next set, I used a couple of different actions to achieve these looks.

Ahh the life and creativity that my little one possesses. She really is so interesting. One moment she can be karate chopping her dad and telling him that she wants to wrestle, the next moment she gets her “girl on” and she’ll talk real sweetly and put make-up on and dresses. She really is something.
I got my natural brown seamless paper yesterday so you know I HAD to try it out. E is my every faithful model as of late and I so appreciate it.

I bought these flowers the other day to use at some point for a shoot. My little one decided that they needed to be in a vase.
Last night we actually got to have our front door open to let in some of the spring like air. It was wonderful. I loved how the fading sun hit the flowers, so I couldn’t resist.

“B” went to her schools Valentine’s Dance last night. Many of you on here have already seen her dress. Anyway, yesterday our beautician came to our house and did her hair. Then we went and got her friend, “A” and brought her over for supper and for them to get dressed together. “B” also wanted me to take studio type pictures of the two of them. Who am I to say no, right? Besides, “A” was a fresh face. :p
After that “B”‘s boyfriend and “A”s date came to pick her up. What a nice guy.
She really had a good time.

She wasn't smiling for me...she was taking a picture of herself with the webcam. LOL

"A" is very shy........

Every once in awhile someone will share a link to some free action and those actions will just totally blow me away. A friend of mine posted a link to a site that offers free photoshop action. Thank you Cathy for posting that link…..they are awesome!!!
The website is called CoffeeShopPhotography. Here is a link to her site:
