The White River Gardens

After we were done with the zoo, we headed over to the White River Gardens. They have butterflies everywhere in there. I think, if I’m not mistaken, that at the peak you have to be checked to make sure that you don’t leave with a butterfly anywhere on you. This location is simply beautiful for photographs.

Misc Personal Photos/Zoo pics

I promise I won’t bombard you with all the zoo pics. It was my little one’s first time going to the zoo so of course we had to document that. I don’t know if my husband had ever been and I think it’s been a very very long time since I had last been. The day was dreary and it drizzled off and on all day. But it really did turn out nice.

Here is a new favorite of my girls from Friday night.

This next pic makes me laugh. He looks so curious about all the attention. The one thing I wonder about is just how big is their living space. Where they were at didn’t look very big so I’m sure they have another area for when the zoo is closed. I don’t know…just curious.

Back from a little time off

It seems that I was doing sessions every weekend and I knew that I had to take a little down time for just me and my family. So, this past weekend we headed up to Indy to spend a few days with my husband’s mom and brother. On Saturday we went to the Zoo and that evening I did book a session with the “C” Family who have been shown on my blog several times. Then on Sunday, my mother-in-law, the girls and I went to Garfield Park and then to Holliday Park. It really was a very relaxing weekend that went by way too fast. I’ll be highlighting my weekend in a couple of posts as to not slow down the post.

DAY 1

We didn’t much of anything on the first night there. We just sort of……ahem…”clowned around”. Oh yes…lol I went there. Heck if you can’t have fun with your family then your in trouble right?

More to come tomorrow

40th Anniversary Session/Indiana Lifestyle Photographer

On Saturday, I had the awesome opportunity to photograph my Pastors for their 40th Anniversary. I will admit, I was a little nervous about taking their pictures. I wanted to make sure that I did a great job for them. Well, I think we had a great time. Once we got started, it all just flowed and I got to see a side of my Pastors that I’m not sure everyone has seen before. =) I got to see them not as Pastor and Karen, but as husband and wife. How cool is that?

I’ve known these two since 1993 and I am so pleased to have them as my Pastors, but they are more than that. They have been there for my family in our hardest times, supported us and prayed for us. They are like my parents.

Happy Anniversary Pastor and Karen and thank you for being such Godly examples.

Okay, about this song, this is the song they are going to have playing at their anniversary party. I only used the 30 second video, so obviously the whole song isnt playing and it isn’t playing the pictures where they should go but you’ll need to go to their party to see the pictures match with the song. Lol.

I wanted to add a few photos too.

Flowers in Macro/Indiana Photographer

Last night I chose to edit for me, my own personal photographs. On Wednesday, I received my new lens via UPS. I just love that guy…he always brings such nice items when he comes. I’ve been trying to decide what my next lens should be. Up until Wednesday, I only had the 18-55, 55-200 and my wonderful nifty fifty 50 1.4mm. I really never took off the 50mm lens because I love the sharpness. I hated using either of the other two lenses because it didn’t offer a full zoom. Anyway, I though about buying the 18-200mm lens from B&H and was just about ready to push the buy button when one of my fellow photographers pointed out that I wouldn’t be getting the quality out of that lens that I’m getting from the 50mm. That really did stop me in my tracks. So, I looked at another lens that I was eyeing, the Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4.5 lens for Nikon. It offers a wide shot at 2.8 (good light). I was really honest and asked myself, ‘how often do I really need to zoom in?’. I’m always needing to move back to get a subject’s entire body in the frame. So, anyway, I bought the Sigma and am very excited about it. It’s also a macro lens? I don’t know that it’s a true macro lens, but you can get pretty darn close to the flowers.

Here is a link to the lens at B&H.
