Happy 2011 to all my friends and family!
It is my hope that you are all blessed greatly in the coming year. In 2010, I saw an increase in my Tiny Blessing Packages, which is pretty cool! Lots of new babies blessing the world! I got to take part in several weddings, ones on my own and some helping out Sam and Betsy as shooting as their second shooter. I also got to fly over to New Jersey in September to see my bestie, Jen, and her fiance to shoot second at Melissa and John’s wedding on the beach. While there I got to take Jen’s and Chris’s engagement session (although I didn’t know it would be that when we did it).
I’m not planning on changing anything that I’m doing for 2011. I feel that things are good as they are. I would like to see an increase in Seniors in 2011, but I trust God to bring the clients to me. I don’t stress if I don’t have very many of a certain type of clients. As from the beginning, this business is in God’s hands. He’s really much better as this than me.
During the down time during the Holidays, I asked (more liked begged), my girls to show off some of their new clothes that they got for Christmas. From this, I made a collage that I bought from MCP Actions. These are print sizes so you make it, get it printed, then frame it! http://www.mcpactions.com/

Thanks to all my wonderful and amazing clients/friends for making 2010 such a wonderful and enjoyable year. Here is to increase in 2011!!!
Love,
Julie

I’m about to get a little sappy here, so just hold on.
Terre Haute holds the Snowball Dance for the 6-8 graders in the Terre Haute area every December. So, this is a bittersweet post for me and “K”s mom as well. I have photographed “K” getting ready for the Snowball dance since she was in 6th grade.
“K” is an 8th grader and will go on to High School in the fall. I have worked with her mom for years and every year she asks me to document the fun and friendships while they get ready for their Cinderella moment. I’m sad that there won’t be anymore dance pictures to take of her…at least not for a couple of years anyway. I’m sure I’ll take prom pics when that time comes.
Enjoy my favorites!

In September I flew out to New Jersey to help my friend Jen Rinaldi of http://www.jenrinaldiphotography.com/, to second shoot a wedding with her.
Eventually, I’ll show some of my shots from that gorgeous wedding, but today…it’s all about J+C.
I was so excited to see my friend again, but even more excited to finally meet her guy! I knew Chris was a nice guy…but after meeting him, well…he’s even more than just a “nice guy”. He’s so down to earth and was so easy to talk to. Even though I hadn’t ever talked to him in person, we talked as if we had been friends for a long time. He is a great match for my friend.
On Friday, we drove to the spot she likes to take families for photos. Avon-by-the-Sea is the most beautiful spot. I’m in love with beaches and this was heaven! Usually you can take families all the way to the end of the jetty to do the pictures, but, Hurricane Earl (I think) was turning off the east coast causing the waves to be quite high. We weren’t able to get out that far on the jetty and even the spot where we were…we ended up having to move quickly to avoid getting wet. (This would prove to be a bad spot the next day for the grooms pictures…..yikes!)
After the beach we went to Point Pleasant for more pictures on the boardwalk. I was seriously in Heaven! Terre Haute isn’t “country”, but when I was photographing them, I just felt so far from what I’m used to. I shoot in fields, parks, etc. I could get used to shooting on beaches though. And shooting an engagement session in a carnvial…oh my goodness…that was SO cool!
Ok, I’m trying to be all eloquent and such and I stink at writing so I’ll get on with the pictures. I do want to thank Jen and Chris for letting me take their pictures. I didn’t know then that they would turn into their engagement pictures, so I’m glad that I was there. I love you both!

This is my baby sister and her family. I love spending time with my family…even if it is to photograph them. lol
We met up at my middle sisters home for these wonderful portraits. While we were shooting the first set of photos, I looked across the street to the most wonderful patch of weeds and the most gorgeous light coming through the trees. I quickly relocated them to this area and I am SO glad that I did.
Enjoy!!

Monday, I went to Hobby Lobby to check out their fabric to use for my sessions. I seriously love this store. Their customer service is awesome and their prices aren’t bad either. Anyway, my friend and I had talked about getting some damask looking fabric to add to our backdrops. We looked at several sites and found some that were fairly inexpensive. One of our worries is that it would wrinkle and we definitely didn’t want it to wrinkle. I found exactly what I was looking for in Terre Haute. I bought 3 yds and it is 54 inches wide. I really love the look of it, don’t you?
I used my nearest models to test this out and I love the results. I can’t wait to use it for the session I have today.

I have a session to post for a sneak peek but decided to write a post about a new item I recently purchased for my flash and camera. I have studio lights, which are really nice….and as anyone who I’ve used them on can tell you…they aren’t very portable. There is a lot that goes into bringing them and setting up. When my friend Jen Rinaldi came to visit last year, she brought these wireless triggers for all her flashes. I loved the ease of set up…very cool. But, I didn’t think that I could use those because I don’t have a Nikon Flash, I use a Sigma.
Fast forward to July. When I shot with Anna Lynch McClary, she also used flashes for studio lights. Again, I was curious about all that and had asked her to send me a link of where she got her triggers. Jen had sent me links of where she got hers, but my problem was that I still didn’t have a Nikon SB800 and when I looked for them…I found out that they stopped making those and I really don’t have it in the budget to buy a SB900 yet. So, anyway, when Anna sent me the link to where she got her triggers, I saw that they have those triggers for my Sigma.
I was/am elated! I bought one right then and there. I got it in the mail on Monday and I’m posting the results that I got last night. I tested it on my girls, then I immediately used it for the session that I did last night. My husband was so great to hold the umbrella and the flash for me.
Here is the link to where I bought it:
