Teen portraits/Indiana Teen Photographer

I’m still around and still editing, but I’m on a mini vacation from session until after the first of the year. I’m preparing my 2010 pricing, some packages and such. I’ll be announcing all of that on January 2nd.

I was burning some of my early 2009 personal family photos and realized that there were photos I haven’t edited. The ones I’m highlighting are from November, though. There will be more personal photos that I’ll be sharing soon.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas season. Please remember to slow down and enjoy this time in life.

LOVE this one. It’s three photos merged together….obviously, right? LOL

I’m experimenting with a few different actions and textures and I’m kind of liking it. I’m not sure that I would use them with clients, but I might. Not sure yet. 🙂

Check out this blog from MCP Actions. I got a lot of free textures from the links posted.

~9 month session~/Indiana Family Photographer

During the weekend that my family and I went to the zoo, I had the opportunity to meet up with this family for their little ones 9 month session. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I first started to photograph them. I am always so pleased to be able to meet up with them.

The family chose to meet up at Holliday Park. What fun that was. I was so impressed with the play area that I took my girls there the next day. =)

You can see other sessions with this family here:

Miss “A” has turned quite girly. In this next photo I’m asking her to show me her bracelet. I see dresses and tiara’s in her future. lol

Spring Flowers

Well, earlier I think I posted some images of my emerging lilacs, my favorite flower. However, the cold weather that decided to come back killed most of my flowers. That makes me so sad. 😦

Yesterday though we had some amazing temps and so “E” and I got outside and I was able to take some pictures of flowers and her. I’ll post her pictures tomorrow though.

To process these images I used an action from Coffee Shop Photography. I believe there is a link on the right hand side. If there isn’t, I’ll post the link again.

Free Photoshop Action

Every once in awhile someone will share a link to some free action and those actions will just totally blow me away. A friend of mine posted a link to a site that offers free photoshop action. Thank you Cathy for posting that link…..they are awesome!!!

The website is called CoffeeShopPhotography. Here is a link to her site:

You simply must check it out. Here are some examples of what I did with her actions. Of course, I’m using some images from my session from yesterday. 😀

Trying something fun with my editing

Here is my youngest. I thought I would try something a little fun with the edit tonight. You’ll see first the original copy, then one with a selective focus, and then vanilla black and white.

I have to give a big shout out to actioncentral. I LOVE this site!!! They totally rock. There are so many free actions that it’s hard to choose which ones. I found the selective focus one the other day.

Using fill flash

B. wanted me to take her pictures today. I wasn’t feeling the best, but who am I to pass on a portrait session, right? It’s more practice. So, it was a very overcast day and I thought I would try using my on board flash to practice lifting the shadows from her eyes. I wanted to diffuse the flash though so it wouldn’t be so harsh, so out came my t. paper. Yes, I used toilet paper to diffuse my flash. Hey, whatever works, right? I did find that I had to adjust the strength of the flash a bit. All in all I think they came out pretty good.

I used Pioneer woman’s free action, boost, on these.

Free Actions

This has to be the most versatile set of free actions that I’ve seen. I know that there a lot of free choices from actioncentral, but for my needs…these are the easiest and most effective actions.

My friend Jen gave me the heads up on these. They are from PioneerWoman.com and here is the link. http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/

Definetly a site to check out.
